America ByDESIGN™ Season 5, Episode 9 just put the spotlight on one of New York's most iconic destinations: Serendipity3 at the OYO Hotel Times Square.
Serendipity3
| Location | New York, New York |
| Market Sector | Restaurant, Cafe, Hotel |
| Specifier | Wid Chapman Architects |

Wid Chapman Architects took on the challenge of reimagining a space steeped in legendary history (we’re talking Andy Warhol paying for frozen treats with artwork kind of legendary) and turned it into 2,000+ square feet of whimsical dining magic. The episode dives deep into how Chapman honored that wild past while creating something that actually works for the chaos of modern Times Square.
Oh, and the tables? They don’t wobble. Not even a little.
The star of Episode 9?
Spoiler alert: our NOROCK Trail self-stabilizing table bases made the cut. Not because we paid for placement with vintage Warhol sketches (though honestly, not the worst idea), but because they’re doing what they’re supposed to do: absolutely nothing dramatic.
No wobbles. No napkin shims. No staff cleaning up spills. Just tables that stay put and frozen treats that stay upright.
The history (minus the wobbles)
In the episode, Wid Chapman himself walks through how the restaurant’s history shaped every design choice. The design needed to honor that legacy (playful, artistic, unpredictable) while also functioning like a modern restaurant where physics still applies.
Enter: Trail 22s (dining and bar height), Trail 30s, and Trail 36s, all in Sandstone Black. Self-stabilizing. Zero maintenance. Zero replacements. Zero “hold on, let me fix that” moments when you’re trying to nail the perfect Instagram shot of your $200 sundae.
Built different (literally)
Here’s the thing about Serendipity3: it’s not trying to be minimalist or subtle. It’s maximalist joy in dessert form. So when Wid Chapman Architects specified NOROCK, they weren’t just checking a box for “functional table base.” They needed something that could handle:
- Tourist foot traffic that never stops
- The kind of Instagram moment density that would make lesser tables tap out
- A space where people focus on the experience, not on fixing furniture
35+ years of mastering stabilizing tech, 5-year mechanism warranty, ADA compliant, Red Dot Design Award winner. Yeah, we’ve got the receipts. But more importantly? Millions of happy diners worldwide who’ve never once had to do the “fold a coaster under the leg” dance.
Watch it wobble-free
