Designed by the award-winning team at Kennedy Nolan, Melbourne Place is a new 16-storey boutique hotel on Russell Street in the eastern end of Melbourne’s CBD. More than just a place to stay, it’s an urban sanctuary where every detail has been carefully considered, from architectural form to the tactile comfort of each guest touchpoint.

That level of attention extends to the furniture, expertly curated by James Richardson Furniture (JRF), including our NOROCK self-stabilising table bases. Featured in the hotel’s rooms is our NRxTMH table base, designed in collaboration with renowned interior studio Tom Mark Henry and highlighted by The Local Project for its seamless blend of elegance and engineering. Finished in our rich Pindan Red colourway, our NRxTMH sits perfectly alongside the generous window seating in the ‘Urban’ rooms, offering a stable surface for a morning coffee or evening glass of wine — with sweeping views of the city as the backdrop.

The true beauty of NOROCK lies in what guests don’t notice. There’s no rocking, no spills, no folded napkins under table legs, just a smooth, uninterrupted experience that lets guests stay immersed in the moment. Because when the table works, it means the experience takes centre stage.

Award-winning in both form and function, our NRxTMH received a prestigious Good Design Award and was named a top-three finalist at the 20th Annual Hospitality Design Awards in 2024. Its design is a favourite among architects and designers who seek timeless aesthetics without compromising performance, ideal for hotels like Melbourne Place, where style and substance go hand in hand.

Versatility is another strength of our NRxTMH. Available in a range of made-to-order heights — from coffee and lounge (chat) tables to dining and bar settings — it ensures a cohesive design language throughout a property while delivering the same reliable self-stabilising performance across every space. Whether placed in a guest room, lobby, or bar, it works effortlessly.

In hotels, where every element shapes the guest experience, NOROCK table bases quietly play their part. Our self-stabilising technology eliminates wobble on uneven surfaces, helping venues maintain a polished, refined atmosphere — from in-room dining to lively communal areas. It’s the kind of invisible comfort guests won’t think twice about, until they’re seated elsewhere and notice its absence (and write a scathing review!).

The choice by Kennedy Nolan and JRF to specify NOROCK reflects a commitment not just to aesthetics, but to enduring quality and thoughtful design. It’s one thing to create a beautiful interior, it’s another to ensure that every component enhances the experience, day after day.

Melbourne Place is already making its mark on the city’s hospitality landscape, its design and attention to detail setting a new standard. And with NOROCK, every guest interaction — from a quiet solo moment to a shared drink — is steady, seamless, and serene. Just as it should be.
