From corporate lobbies to mountain lodges, Kristi Nelson knows that great design isn't just about how a space looks, it's about how it works. As the founder of The Work/Life Group and NOROCK’s representative across Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming, she champions furniture that combines elegance, durability, and effortless functionality.
Kristi has been in the contract furnishings world since 2002. “I was fascinated by how much the right furniture can transform a workspace,” she says. Over the years, she noticed a gap between what designers wanted and what manufacturers were offering. That inspired her to launch The Work/Life Group. “The whole concept of work-life balance has completely shifted—people aren’t just working from traditional offices anymore. I wanted to work with manufacturers who understood that a table in a co-working space needs to perform just as well as one in a boardroom.”
Her Rocky Mountain territory is diverse, covering Colorado’s tech startups, Utah’s growing business hubs, and Wyoming’s energy sector. “The variety keeps things interesting,” she explains. “One day I’m talking to a startup in Denver about their collaborative workspace, the next I’m working with a resort in Jackson Hole on their outdoor dining area.”
Kristi was immediately impressed by NOROCK’s approach to table design.
Honestly, NOROCK caught my attention because they solved a problem that everyone just accepts as ‘normal.’ How many times have we all sat at a wobbly table and just dealt with it?
Her favorite NOROCK self-stabilizing table base is our NRxTMH: “It brings an organic, almost sculptural quality to a space while still being incredibly functional. I’ve used it in everything from corporate lobbies to mountain lodges, and it always feels right at home.”
Kristi highlights the Rocky Mountain hospitality market as particularly exciting.
From ski lodges in Utah to dude ranches in Wyoming to mountain resorts in Colorado, every detail matters. A wobbly table can completely ruin the vibe, no matter how good the food or service is.
Looking ahead, Kristi sees flexibility, wellness, and quality shaping commercial interiors. “Everything’s got to be flexible now… Companies want furniture that can handle a Monday morning all-hands meeting and a Thursday afternoon brainstorming session equally well. Quality is the new luxury. Clients want things built to last, and they’re willing to pay for it upfront because they understand the long-term value.”
For Kristi, NOROCK embodies simple, practical innovation. “While everyone’s chasing the latest trends, NOROCK just went back to basics and asked, ‘Why do we accept wobbly tables as normal?'” She encourages anyone in her territory to reach out to see it in action. “I’m always happy to bring samples or meet you at a showroom. That’s what The Work/Life Group is all about — connecting great products with people who appreciate smart design.”
